705 Happy Home Road, Nakina, NC 28455. Roughly 1 hour from Wilmington, 45 minutes from North Myrtle Beach, and 12 minutes off the interstate.

What To Bring

Hunting: license, gear, weather-appropriate clothing. Wedding: yourselves. Lodging: personal toiletries; we’ve got linens, towels, robes, hairdryers, coffee station, and the kitchen essentials.

02 Hunting FAQs

Do I need a license to hunt?

Yes — a North Carolina hunting license is required, and waterfowl hunters need a Federal Duck Stamp and the NC Waterfowl Privilege. Buy here.

What’s the deposit and cancellation policy?

50% deposit required to secure dates on most hunts, with the remaining balance due 14 days prior to the hunt. Deposits are non-refundable; rescheduling is available based on availability at outfitter discretion.

Can I bring my own dog?

On self-guided upland hunts, yes — well-trained, controlled dogs are welcome. On-site kennels are available; dogs are not permitted inside lodging accommodations. Owners are responsible for the care, handling, and behavior of their dogs throughout their stay.

What’s the firearm policy?

For upland hunts, over/under shotguns are recommended. Semi-automatic shotguns are permitted but must be limited to two shells loaded at any time.

Do you do corporate group hunts?

Yes — multi-day, multi-hunt corporate packages are a core part of the program. Custom pricing built around your group size, mix of hunts, and lodging needs.

Can I combine multiple hunts in one weekend?

Absolutely. Many groups run a wood duck hunt at first light, an upland hunt mid-morning, and 5-Stand or Cosmic Clays in the evening — all on the same property without having to drive anywhere.

What about kids?

All our hunts are kid-friendly with appropriate planning. The 5-Stand has youth pricing ($15 vs $20) for shooters 18 & under. Talk to us about pacing and bird selection for younger hunters.

What’s the venue rental fee and what does it include?

Friday weddings start at $1,250–$2,350 depending on season. Saturdays $2,000–$3,500. Sundays $850–$1,450. Venue + lodging packages $4,850–$6,350. Full pricing details on the Events & Weddings page.

What’s the building capacity?

150 guests, including the bridal party.

How do I reserve a date?

Email events@ironhornfarms.com stating you’re ready to book a specific date (and a backup, in case it’s unavailable). We highly recommend an in-person tour first — FaceTime tours are available for out-of-area couples. Dates are reserved on a first-requested basis.

Will there be another wedding the same day?

No. We host only one wedding per day — ever — to ensure each couple receives our full attention.

Can my dog be in the wedding?

Yes! Iron Horn is dog-friendly. Dogs are welcome with pre-approval for the ceremony and pre-/post-ceremony photos. We ask that dogs leave the venue following post-ceremony photos — they don’t join cocktail hour, dinner, or the reception.

Are there overnight accommodations nearby?

Yes — on-site, the Cabin sleeps 8 and the Bunkhouse sleeps 4. Off-site, we’re minutes from Calabash, Whiteville, Shallotte, Southport, Wilmington, and the South Carolina beach communities (Ocean Isle, Sunset Beach, Holden Beach, North Myrtle Beach, etc.).

Do we have to use your caterers?

No, but we have a list of recommended vendors we know and trust. You’re welcome to select your own — just confirm they carry liability insurance and relevant certifications, and meet with us in advance.

What happens in case of rain?

We have a beautiful indoor view of the back pond. Guests sit at their tables and the IHF team moves a few tables to the sides of the room to create an aisle — one of our couples’ favorite indoor backup options because it doesn’t require a full room flip.

What time does the music need to end?

Friday/Saturday: 10:30 p.m. (off-property by midnight, except on-site lodging guests). Sunday: 9:30 p.m. (off-property by 10:30 p.m., except on-site lodging guests).
